Interact Worldwide Education Resources
Wise Up For Women
This educational resource assesses the global status of women from a human rights perspective, focusing on the fundamental rights to health, education, security of person and economic and political participation enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948). It provides information aiming to raise awareness of how commitment to women’s empowerment is essential to reducing global poverty. The new resource will be a valuable addition to the Citizenship curriculum in secondary schools for Key Stage 4 (15-16 year olds). It will also be applicable to teaching A-Level General Studies, Geography, the new A Level on World Development and the International Baccalaureat which is being increasingly taught in UK schools.

Parallel Lives Video
This short video documentary, funded by the Department for International Development, looks at the parallel lives of young people in Soweto, a township in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Scotland's capital, Edinburgh. Providing a valuable snapshot of young people's personal views and issues in the 21st century, the video records their discussions on sex, relationships, self esteem and peer pressure. Despite living thousands of miles apart the issues the young people are grappling with strike a familiar note. The Parallel Lives video and accompanying resource booklet have included input from educational specialists to ensure relevance for use at Key Stage 4 and above. They are a valuable resource as a trigger for debate on a wide range of subjects from sex and relationships to HIV/AIDS and gender. Cost £10.00 including P&P.
