Speaking Out - An expert opinion
In 1994 at the International Conference on Population and Development, now universally referred to as ICPD, 179 countries signed up to a historic agreement, a practical action plan to deliver Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for all by 2015. During the first 5 years the agreement was well supported and good progress was made. However, as time has passed SRHR has been confronted with many challenges, changing development policy frameworks, donor fatigue, a higher level of HIV infection than expected and the omission of SRHR as a specific goal in the Millennium Development Goals.
To help assess progress and to identify challenges, Interact Worldwide consulted UK experts in SRHR and HIV/Aids to provide evidence for this document.
